He knew this day would come.
The day he and the Kingpin stood toe to toe for control of this city. However, he had envisioned it a little differently. He wouldn't have been the one caught and tied up. He hadn't gone quietly, as ten of the Kingpin's 'best' men would attest to, currently nursing broken bones and sore spots.
Things were not looking good for Daredevil. The Kingpin was flying high, so pleased with himself for having captured the vigilante. The fly in the ointment was what he called him. That tune changed when his goons unmasked him for all of them to see.
They had been beaten by a blind man.
Fisk seethed in anger against not only Daredevil but his own men for being 'plebians who couldn't kill a rat if they had to.' He'd then ordered trussed up Daredevil taken away to a secret room in his tower. One that hardly anyone knew about. This one was soundproof.
How many days ago that was, Matt couldn't say. He had managed to slip his ropes time and time again but it made no difference. The room was wired for sound, speakers on every wall. The noise that piped into the room was loud enough for someone with normal hearing. It was excruciating for Matt's super senses, every second he was in there. The sound echoing back and forth in the room, he couldn't get his bearings. Down was up, up was down. He crawled along the floor at times, trying to find a way out. But there was no way out. Time blurred together into one long session of pain and torture. All of it on video for the Kingpin to enjoy breaking the Man without Fear.
He had passed out many a time, ears bleeding, only to wake up to a henchman slapping his face to wake him up and set his chair upright again. And the noise would start again. It had gotten to the point where he couldn't think anymore. Hoping beyond hope that it would all end one way or another.

Date: 2017-01-29 10:51 pm (UTC)From:"...are we still winning?" he asks tiredly. His ears slowly coming back from the ringing inside them. But when he hears Snart's plan, he wakes up quicker. His hand finding Leonard a wrist to push it back so he would stop putting the parachute on him. "You can't we need to go now. I don't like owing anyone either." He's going to be stubborn on this. The fight with Fisk is his fight. He's not having someone else die other than him because of it.
(Rescue will come after your next tag. XD)
Date: 2017-01-30 12:22 am (UTC)From:"You're not owing me, I'm repaying you. You helped me save that idiot, Raymond, remember? You also helped me out of a burning warehouse, pinned down by thugs." He insisted and tried to get Matt back on his feet so they could get onto the roof. "Look, I picked this fight knowing the repercussions it might have."
The door behind them was flung open and gunfire started spraying the walls around them. Snart had seconds to throw them both through the door onto the roof and slam it shut. He iced it over with the Cold Gun and glared at it as if daring it to open. Now he was screwed. But he knew he couldn't get Matt to jump without him if that earlier argument was anything to go by. So, he did what he did best, apart from steal.
"Go. I'll climb down the fire escapes." He insisted, as he looked over the edge. Yeah, there were no fire escapes. They were on the top story of a friggen sky scraper for lack of a better definition. It was a blatant lie, but he hoped the man's 'radar' wouldn't tell him that much.
Tagging from work woo
Date: 2017-01-30 02:26 am (UTC)From:Matt pushes himself up to his knees, determined to make a last stand here on the roof. The wind whipping through and threatening to tug them both off the roof. He chuckled despite the circumstance. "You're lying. And I'm not going anywhere." He was injured, no batons, no staff. Just his fists left and he wasn't going down without a fight. Forcing himself to get to his feet as the goons pounded on the door.
That's always fun. XD I just got off work.
Date: 2017-01-30 02:52 am (UTC)From:"Need a lift?" Rip's voice cut over the roaring in the air. He was leaning out the hatch of a concealed Waverider, holding onto a rail for support, as Gideon kept the ship steady. "I've been informed that you intended to jump? And if I'm not mistaken, that sounds like a terrible idea with just one parachute. I thought you were the smart one, Mister Snart. So, come on then. In you get. I believe you've been aboard before, Mister Murdock?" The hatch brushed the edge of the building and Len gave Matt's arm a tug. "Mister Snart is very adept at keeping secrets, however, Gideon is quite the snitch to her Captain."
"Meet the Captain of the team." You didn't really need to have sight to tell Snart just rolled his eyes as he spoke. His tone should portray it quite well. Nevertheless, Rip leaned further out the hatch to take Daredevil's hand to help guide and support him over the gap.

Date: 2017-01-30 03:16 am (UTC)From:Snart had to half pull him to get him started towards the ramp and then Matt was being helped into the ship as the door to the roof was broken down by the Kingpins thugs. Bullets starting to be fired in their direction as the ramp closed behind them. Matt kept close to a wall with one hand to steady himself against the ship's pitch and yaw as it moved under him. Wishing that he still had his mask on. He didn't like that his weakness, the one the Kingpin had exploited, was on display for all to see. "I don't think we are going to need the parachute after all."

Date: 2017-01-30 03:30 am (UTC)From:"Right. Gideon, take care of our guest. Ah," Rip had been spinning to leave the room he just followed them into when he snapped his fingers and shook a pointer finger in Leonard and Matt's direction. "and I would like to add that, when Gideon informed me of your predicament, she also enlightened me to the fact that a strange unidentified flying object was spotted over Hell's Kitchen on Doppler Radar." He let the implications of that hang over Leonard as he whirled and left. So, yes, the reason he wasn't getting a lecture was because this event was already cemented in time. It was something that was supposed to happen, as trippy as that was to imagine.
He gestured for Matt to sit on the medical table. "Sit down. Relax. And let Gideon help you while we figure out what to do with your nemesis."
your Rip is almost better than the original :D
Date: 2017-01-30 04:36 am (UTC)From:Matt's face fell as he heard the news. "Fisk," he hissed to himself. His adversary got away clean. Well, maybe not totally clean, his tower would need extensive repairing after Leonard's handiwork. At least they could be proud of that. But it knawed at his gut that the Kingpin got away again.
The table seemed ordinary enough under his fingertips. He leaned on it, working up the resolve to actually get up onto it. Letting the parachute fall off as he undid the buckle on his chest. Sitting down heavily on the table, it was apparent he was still fighting an inner battle against total exhaustion. Relax was not in Daredevil's vocabulary.
But one word was. "Thanks," he said. For getting him out of that place.
Asdfjl That's a high compliment! Thank you! owo
Date: 2017-01-31 08:20 am (UTC)From:"So, that Doppler Radar sighting was the Waverider." He knows that probably doesn't make sense, seeing as Rip said he heard about the sighting before he arrived. "Fisk was already long gone by then. Coward." By now, Matt might feel the pain receding. His wounds were rapidly healing. His hearing would be back to peak efficiency in no time, and all signs of his torture would fade. It didn't bode well in bringing Fisk to justice for what he did, as far as the legal aspect of it, but it also meant Matt wouldn't be vulnerable, either.
"He knows who you are, now. You think he'd try to abduct you from your apartment or work?" Because Snart would hunt this man down if he had to before letting Matt off the ship.
"Just repaying the debt." Translation: You're welcome.

Date: 2017-01-31 09:44 pm (UTC)From:"It's possible," he says but it's clear he isn't about to let that stop him.
His fingers walk along the bracelet on his other wrist, trying to work out what it was doing to him. He did feel much better, the constant headache starting to ease off. "Your Captain must think much of you, if he went to these lengths."

Date: 2017-01-31 10:38 pm (UTC)From:At the mention of Rip thinking highly of him, Leonard went uncomfortably quiet. He never knew what to do with compliments of that nature. "He feels responsible for us. That's all." He did lie to them to convince them to join his crazy mission.

Date: 2017-01-31 11:54 pm (UTC)From:"I told you, this team is the best at what it does. But, to be honest, we're the only team doing what we do. And what we do, is fix aberrations in the timeline. We've been hunting Vandal Savage through out the timeline and fixing his muck-ups." He paused to let that settle.
"Come with us."
"You are the last person I'd expect to pick up strays, Mr. Snart." Rip's voice cut over the intercom. Why yes, he was spying on them. And yes, Lenny sure did just ignore him.

Date: 2017-02-01 12:00 am (UTC)From:Then a piece of what Snart said sunk in. "...what do you mean by timeline?" That didn't make sense.

Date: 2017-02-01 01:39 am (UTC)From:Snart's smirk quirked wider when Daredevil caught the subtle hint. Or, perhaps, not so subtle. "When we first met, that was what, a couple months ago? For me, it's been well over a year. This isn't a space ship, really--" Cold was cut off when the Captain quickly whipped back into the medical bay again.
"--It's a time ship. And I am a Time Master. Mister Snart, must we have another talk about potentially damaging the timeline?"
no subject
Date: 2017-02-01 01:46 am (UTC)From:"A time ship? That travels through time?" The implications of that were staggering.
"...and you chose to land here in Hell's Kitchen? Surely there are better places to joyride in." But Leonard had said they were tracking Savage. One would think that an easy task with a time ship.
"I doubt your Captain would find use for a vigilante such as myself," Matt says reluctantly.

Date: 2017-02-01 02:22 am (UTC)From:"Four-thousand year old Hawk Goddess or demigoddess or something. Either way, she's the only one who can kill Savage. We ended up in Hell's Kitchen because of Savage. We made another stop because we found something he left behind and I may have gone rogue to check on a friend." Snart shrugged. "Good thing I did. Now, you may be a little more hero than me and Mick are used to, but I think we could use your help. And the good Captain here will keep an eye on Hell's Kitchen and make sure the city doesn't go belly-up."
no subject
Date: 2017-02-01 02:30 am (UTC)From:It was quite an offer. One that Matt might have to think about for a bit. "And what happens when or if you get to Savage?" What was the endgame?
no subject
Date: 2017-02-01 03:15 am (UTC)From:"Well, I suppose that depends on the crew as a whole. The role of a Time Master is to preserve time--something that's increasingly difficult with someone like Savage mucking it up--"
"--And us. Don't forget, we're kind of on the mucking end, too." Snart almost sounded pleased with that. Anything to ruffle Rip's feathers.
"Right. Believe me, that never slips my mind. Be that as it may, In the future I'm from, Vandal Savage has successfully dominated the world. You've met him, Mister Murdock. Imagine what kind of world that would be. The goal is to stop that from happening. Afterwards, should you choose to continue travelling with us, repairing aberrations in time, that's entirely up to you. You can be returned to your former point in time. That said, there is always the chance that not everyone will return from this mission. I believe it's only fair you know the risks."
By now, Matt might have noticed, even the lingering ache left over from his first encounter with Snart was gone. "I apologise, but lacking the original DNA data for Mister Murdock, I cannot repair the damage to his sight." Gideon chimed in. For a computer, she sure sounded genuinely distraught over that.

Date: 2017-02-01 04:30 am (UTC)From:"Someone who can put a leash on Mister Snart and his fellow loose canons, is more than welcome." Rip clasped his hands together in what was almost a clap, but not quite. "Right. Well, I'm needed on the bridge, lest the other loose canons decide to blow a hole in something historically important without their babysitter around."
Leonard waited for Rip to leave before he gave Murdock a critical glance. "That was too easy. I think he wanted me to ask you to join." Which, in hindsight, now it doesn't even feel like it was his idea to begin with. And if Rip wanted Matt around and wanted it to be Snart's idea, then that only meant one thing: Matt was a good influence on him. Damn.
"Fine, whatever. Gideon, let's get Matt a room."
"The Captain has already appointed one." Leonard just made a low, worried sound in the back of his throat. Definitely a bad sign.

Date: 2017-02-01 11:17 am (UTC)From:Still, too bad he couldn't go back for his mask. Or any other clothes. Or his batons. "I don't suppose said room has a shower handy? Or does the future not believe in showers?"

Date: 2017-02-02 11:13 am (UTC)From:Matt considered as he followed Snart easily down the hallway. "Just regular street clothes is fine." After all Daredevil was just his alter ego. He was also Matt Murdock, mild mannered defense attorney. "Though wherever we're going, I might need a white stick to keep up appearances." He didn't always need one, sometimes he could get away for awhile with pretending he was sighted.

Date: 2017-02-05 06:35 am (UTC)From:"I'm pretty sure that can be arranged. I'll take you by the armoury when you're ready. Not everything in there goes 'boom'. Sara's got quite a few killer sticks in her stash." Leo didn't doubt he could pull off the sighted thing, but it was probably be a lot less stressful and exhausting to just go with the blind truth.

Date: 2017-02-05 11:40 pm (UTC)From:"Maybe she can give me some pointers, I've been having to craft my own for awhile now." Always good to get a sighted person's opinion. Sunglasses wouldn't be a bad idea either if they were supposed to be incognito.
